WoodmenLife, Elkin Chapter 105 officers Anita Cox, Liz Reynolds, and Phillip Parrish present gift bags to Elkin Assisted Living to be given to residents at Christmas. The gift bags contained sweat pants, robes, socks, lotions, toiletries, and candy. The residents were also given baskets of puzzles, books, crayons, and other activities to enjoy during the cold days of winter. Elkin Assisted Living at 500 Johnson Ridge Road offers assisted living and respite care in Surry County.

St. Stephen Catholic Church
WoodmenLife, Elkin Chapter 105 President, Phillip Parrish, presents Sister Janis McQuade, Pastoral Administrator at St. Stephen Catholic Church grocery gift cards totaling five hundred dollars to be given to families whose names have been selected from the Angel Tree. St. Stephen parishioners select names from the tree and shop for toys, clothes, and shoes to be given to local children and families who are “Good Neighbors” in need at Christmas time. The names are given by the local school system to ensure every child and family has a happy Christmas.

YVEDDI, Yadkin Valley Economic Development
WoodmenLife Agent Joey Anderson presented a check for $275 in early December given by Elkin Chapter 105 to YVEDDI, Yadkin Valley Economic Development. YVEDDI helps young children get a head start, victims of abuse get a new start, those who have difficulty securing employment get job and skills, and those who need dependable transportation for medical appointments, school, and food shopping.

Presentation of US Flag and NC Flag to Mtn. Park Elementary School. Flags were presented to the principal and Flag Detail. The students on Flag Detail lowered the old flags and raised the new flags. The old flags were presented to WoodmenLife to be retired by the Boys Scouts in a retirement ceremony later this year.

WoodmenLife Agent, Joey Anderson, presented a $275 check from Elkin Chapter 105 to East Bend Senior Center. Yadkin County Senior Center Manager Sandra Johnson accepted on behalf of the center. The mission of the center is to improve and maintain independent wellness for the senior community through advocacy, nutrition, volunteerism and vigorous programming to promote healthy minds, bodies and spirits.

Hospice offers care for terminally-ill people, their families, and their caregivers in a home like setting. Chapter 105 officers presented Lifeline Pregnancy Help Center with diapers, wipes, and a check for $500. This organization offers pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, pregnancy counseling, Maternity Home, and adoption referrals. In addition, the organization offers Bible studies and a Dads Matter Program. The Ark provides a safe environment for families and individuals who are in need of emergency or transitional housing.

Stone’s Throw Ministries
WoodmenLife Chapter 105 donated laundry baskets filled with cleaning supplies to Stone’s Throw Ministries. Stone’s Throw Christian Ministries is a non-profit organization that is funded by grants and donations from partnerships and individuals. They gather furniture and other household items, redistributing them to those in need as well as assisting with minor house repairs and emergency situations. Stone’s Throw mission is to work to provide goods and services to other agencies and ministries allowing them to show the love of Jesus Christ.

Boy Scout Troop 658
Elkin Chapter 105 WoodmenLife presented a check for $1000.00 to Boy Scout Troop 658 to help in the troop’s expenses as they travel to the 24th World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia. Over 2.3 million scouts from over 167 countries are uniting for this international scouting event being held July 22-August 2. Yadkin Christian Ministries
Elkin Chapter 105 Treasurer, Anita Cox, presented a check for $500.00 to Peggy Lyon, Yadkin Christian Ministries. Yadkin Christian Ministries is a cooperative effort of churches, individuals and non-profit agencies unified for the purpose of sharing Christ's love by providing daily necessities to the less fortunate in the community. Each week, trained volunteers gather at the Yadkinville and East Bend locations to minister to people in need. Food is provided, and assistance with utilities, medicine, and many other necessities of life are made available.

Feed the Elderly
WoodmenLife , Elkin Chapter 105 presented Feed the Elderly a check for $2000.00. The program is all-volunteer supported with donations only. Feed the Elderly, begun nearly 12 years ago, has volunteers through area churches who donate and deliver meals to the elderly in Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin counties who have difficulty securing and preparing food.
